FPCA Education Foundation Student Scholarship Program. You could receive up to $1500.


The Florida Prestressed Concrete Association (FPCA) Education Foundation (Foundation) is sponsoring scholarships for deserving students pursuing careers related to the precast, prestressed concrete industry. Precast, prestressed concrete-related careers include professional positions in manufacturing facilities, architectural firms, the specifying community, structural engineering firms and the construction industry.

This scholarship is for students starting a 2-year Program, Certificate Programs or entering third academic year or higher at a college/university who are interested in careers related to the precast, prestressed concrete industry.


PREVIOUS WINNERS

The Florida Prestressed Concrete Association [FPCA] Education Foundation [Foundation] is awarding scholarships for students pursuing a degree in Civil, Architectural, Construction, or Certificate in certain trades who may be interested in working in the precast, prestressed concrete industry.  Precast, prestressed concrete-related careers include professional positions in manufacturing facilities, architectural firms, the specifying community, structural engineering firms, and the construction industry.  Industry trade includes, but not limited to, heavy-machine operator, welder, carpenter, etc.

RULES & REQUIREMENTS

  • Seeking either a Certificate program or a Bachelor’s degree program.
  • Enrolling full-time at a Florida academic institution.
  • Continuously taking courses within the curriculum of the chosen field or major listed above.
  • Maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading schedule.
  • In a Student Member Class of the FPCA.  Student membership is free to join.
  • An active member of a PCI Student Chapter/Club where one is available.
  • Awards will be given in the amounts of $500, $1000, & $1500 scholarships. The FPCA Foundation’s Board of Trustees shall determine the amount for each individual candidate.
  • The award is for one academic year. Recipient may renew for subsequent years but continuing to meet all the requirements listed in this document and receive approval from the Trustees.
  • Major’s curriculum of required courses to obtain a degree/certificate.
  • Previous semester (Fall, Spring, or Summer) grades prior to the date of application.
  • Current and/or upcoming semester class schedule
  • An essay (300–500 words) on the attributes and benefits of building with precast, prestressed concrete products.
  • It is encouraged to participate in an industry-related internship, but not required, to be considered for the scholarship. Contact FPCA Foundation Executive Director for more information. Opportunities may be available with industry manufacturing companies, designers, or vendors serving the FPCA Producer Members.
  • All awards will be given during the FPCA’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at Shingle Creek Golf & Resort in Orlando. The event begins with a Welcome Reception at 6:00 pm and ends at 10:00 pm.
  • All recipients are asked to attend. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. The Executive Director will coordinate with each recipient.
  • The FPCA Foundation’s Board of Trustees’ decision is final.

The award will be given out during the FPCA Annual Meeting slated for Thurs. evening, Jan. 30th at Shingle Creek Golf & Resort in Central Florida. All finalists are highly encouraged to attend in person at the evening’s Award Ceremony to receive their scholarship award. Travel and lodging expenses will be reimbursed but will need to be coordinated and pre-approved with the FPCA’s Executive Director.
