Background

The Reedy Creek Improvement District needed more parking near Disney Springs. They called on FINFROCK in 2019 to build a modern parking garage to accommodate one of the largest tourist and entertainment attractions in the nation. The A3 RCID parking structure, sometimes known as the Grapefruit Garage, is the third parking garage to open in Disney Springs.

By matching the new garage to the existing garages using architectural metals, corner planters, checkered louvers, horizontal louvers, vertical tube, and perforated panels, FINFROCK was able to meet the District’s design standards while providing over 3,000 additional parking spaces and an attached pedestrian bridge.

The garage has a parking guidance system and speed ramps on one side of the building, which provide quicker parking entry and improved lighting throughout the garage. The Grapefruit Garage includes five stories of space, five elevators, digital number boxes displaying parking spaces available on each floor, and colored lighting in each row. All these amenities make it simple for visitors to locate a parking space, exit their car, and stroll to Disney Springs without delay.

For the project, located in the heart of Disney World’s main retail, eating, and entertainment district, FINFROCK served as the project’s architect and engineer of record, general contractor, and precast/prestressed concrete maker.

New restaurants, shops, and other establishments are continually added to the Disney Springs eating, entertainment, and shopping district. Disney Springs is getting distinctive features from major retailers like Levi’s, Coca-Cola, and Planet Hollywood, as well as smaller regional concepts like Wine Bar George and The Polite Pig, making it a popular destination for visitors and residents.
