Background

The Surfside Hotel at the Endless Summer Resort was launched by Universal Resorts on June 27, 2019, barely 15 months after the project’s groundbreaking. It was the company’s quickest and most effective hotel-building project to date.

To provide a complete precast/prestressed concrete solution, FINFROCK served as the project’s architect of record, structural engineer of record, precast concrete manufacturer, and general contractor. They were able to achieve this by adopting the DualDeck® Building System.

The Surfside Inn & Suites is the second hotel project to utilize Finfrock’s Innovative DualDeck® Building technology. With the DualDeck, which offers customers a durable precast/prestressed concrete solution, it is possible to incorporate fire, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems into building components during production, significantly reducing on-site labor requirements and speeds up the production process.

The Endless Summer Resort, which has two complexes with a combined 2,800 rooms (Surfside has 750 rooms and Dockside has 2,050), is situated on the site of the former Wet ‘n Wild water park at the junction of Universal Boulevard and International Drive. A large portion of the resort’s infrastructure was also supplied by FINFROCK, including all of the elevators and circulation cores, the central chilled-water plant, the parking garage, and the range of high-rise-specific regulatory requirements.
